About Us

Your host Melissa Donegan moved to the country with her husband and two young children in 2003 for a complete “tree change” with a view to build a bed and breakfast cottage or three.  So far, just one has been built and the thoughts of additional cottages have changed, as it would take away the unique privacy that the property offers to its guests.

The challenge of a change from suburban life to rural living is ever exciting and rewarding.   Having built “Strath Valley View B & B” in 2006 a dream has been realised with the arrival of its first guests in January 2007.

What Our Guests Thought Of Their Stay

   April 2007

We saw a wombat an echidna and lots of Kangaroos on our morning walk. Fresh air, sunshine and all the special touches like olive  oil soap, fresh parsley, home made bread made our stay an absolute delight.

We are from the UK but have lived for five years in Melbourne.  As we are reluctantly moving back to the UK we spent our last weekend  away from Melbourne here.  Strath Valley View will remind us of the best Australia has to offer when we are struggling on in grimy England.  We will remember the accessibility from Melbourne, the views, the tranquillity, the interiors, the local produce, generous hospitality, fine wine (and Port).  The cottage, for us, was not a home away from home, "Coz at home we are never this relaxed nor comfortable." Perhaps, in the future, we will be able to return here.  In the meantime, we will recommend that others visit instead so they can experience what  our family has thoroughly enjoyed.

The local produce was great and such a pleasure to arrive with the  fire having warmed the house.  And with such lovely views over the valley it was hard to leave.  Many thanks.
